We have hobby farmed for 15 years and enjoyed raising chickens, guinea fowl, ducks, geese, turkeys, horses and pigs. Pam, the shepherd, has always wanted to have / raise sheep.
2 years ago we began with 4 ewes and have enjoyed tending to our small flock. We primarily have Katahdin / Dorper ewes and lambs - they grow and shed hair through the seasons, no usable wool. As a result of the lambs not growing wool, the meat does not have that strong "muttony" taste, rather it is very mild tasting!
We tend to our flock daily providing clean water and green grass when in season, otherwise grain and hay.
Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)
Our lambs are rotated regularly through fresh pasture during the summer months. We do not use any antibiotics or hormones in our production.
