EVERYTHING is new! But a couple of highlights you should know about include:
Arthur Shupe Wild Foods: Arthur sells locally harvested frozen wild blueberries, and sundried morel (wild) mushrooms. Wild blueberries are loaded with antioxidants and vitamins. Mushrooms are an excellent source of hard to find vitamin D, and morels are particularly high in this vitamin. Better still, sundried mushrooms contain significantly higher levels of Vitamin D than fresh mushrooms. Music to the ears of a northerner in the winter! See our “what’s cooking” section (or blog in the member ordering site), for tips to incorporate these into your favourite recipes, and for recipe ideas. Arthur will be shipping what’s left of his stock out soon, so stock up your pantry and freezer before they’re gone!
Brule Creek Farms: Jeff & Andrea operate the only flour mill in Northwestern Ontario. Their locally grown grains are stone milled (a heritage process that allows the flour to retain more protein, nutrients and flavour), and GMO/additive/preservative free. There are several types available, including gluten-free buckwheat*. They also have pre-made mixes for muffins, scones, whole wheat pizza crust…and more! These items must be ordered this weekend butWILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR PICK UP UNTIL DECEMBER 10th. Also, due to the distance, these products won’t be available again until sometime in the New Year so order for your Christmas baking now! (*buckwheat flour is milled in same facility as flours containing gluten).
LAST IMPORTANT NOTE:
You must choose to either add a $10 “delivery box deposit” (under CLFC) to your order, to receive a reusable box with your order to exchange each week (limited quantity), OR, bring reusable bags/boxes with you on Tuesdays to pick up your orders.
Happy shopping! Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. You have until Monday morning at 10:00am to finalize your order. Anything left in your cart at that time is considered ordered. You will pick up orders on Tuesday December 3rd at the Dryden Agricultural Centre between 4pm-6pm (except flour, which will be available for pick up the following week).
